If you know nothing about this Open Air Museum you can find out about it before you go and also enjoy browsing the Christmas Market.

Find that perfect gift and enjoy a great day out at the Museum! Our bustling Christmas Market sees over 100 stands – selling arts, crafts, food, unusual gifts and much more – ‘pop up’ in our collection of rescued historic buildings and houses, in our award-winning Gridshell building and around other locations on the Museum site. Follow the signs and explore!

As well as craft and trade stands, there will be festive music and tasty seasonal treats to sample and buy.  The admission fee includes entry to the Museum and to the Christmas Market, which features stands located within and around our collection of rescued historic buildings.

The Gateway Project is our most ambitious development project, and will transform your experience from the moment you arrive, with a fantastic new waterside café, shop and visitor centre.


The project is now nearing completion, with fitting out taking place during April and May. It is our plan to open the entrance, shop and introductory galleries in June 2017 and the waterside café later in the spring.

Leaving by coach at  9am from behind Wantage Library, Seesen Way. 

 Departing for Wantage at 4pm to arrive approx 6pm.

Dickensian Evening

Friday 1st December

The Museum will be open for Wantage Dickensian Evening again this year and our very own Father Christmas will be once again making the Museums Ormand Room into his little Grotto (with some help from the elves)

Come along to the Museum 5pm-9pm to enjoy an array of festivities including mulled wine and mince pies as well as some live music from Pandemonium & the St. John Vainney Choir.
